PSYSOCIETY:

How did you start organizing psytrance parties? What was your motivation?

Karolina:

Well, for many years I was regular party-goer in my home town in Poland, but there was only techno or drum n bass parties, psytrance was unknown yet, and when I moved to London and discovered underground psytrance parties it was really something special for me and I wanted to be part of it. For the first 2 years, I was partying every weekend, waiting from Saturday to Saturday, and when came opportunity I can be part of one of the crews who organize this I was very happy! And I had a feeling this is something that I always wanted to and do it well

PSYSOCIETY:

Your first event, how did it look like? Where did you host it? Who was playing?

Karolina:

my first event was 25 July 2015, Free Forest party in London with special quests – Shockrocket (Milega Records ) Germany and Trimuthi (Visionary Shamanic Rec) Slovakia, with support from local artists:)

PSYSOCIETY:

You have seen many Psytrance gatherings around the globe. What makes the London squat community special?

Karolina:

I haven’t seen many underground parties around the globe , I was attending mostly to festivals and legal party’s, but I know that in some countries organize underground parties are almost impossible and I understand that many organizers are afraid to go for it. For me, underground parties are special because everyone can feel free and do what they want and everybody is welcome, and there are no any restrictions:)

PSYSOCIETY:

As an organizer, what was the most memorable moment you have experienced so far?

Karolina:

there were a lot of memorable moments but the most beautiful is when day after party people sending you private message to say “thank you for the party I really enjoyed “ special moments are also when partygoers share with you their secrets and stories and they trust you, and I can feel that my time is not wasted and people really appreciate what we do.

PSYSOCIETY:

You hosted many successful events. Were there any hard times you experienced? Did you ever think about quitting?

Karolina:

There is always stress when you organize parties, always not enough time, not enough locations and we are short in crew ( what makes us we are always late ) but in the morning when party is successful all stress goes away 🙂 honestly I was thinking about quitting many times but I don’t think it’s gonna happen – people need us.

PSYSOCIETY:

From your point of view, what makes you consider a DJ/ producer for a booking? Are there some no-gos?

Karolina:

for the first is music and for the second depends on how much this person is relaxed about things

PSYSOCIETY:

You announce the locations of your events a couple of hours before the start. Did you ever get in trouble with the authorities?

Karolina:

2 years ago there were big troubles with authorities chasing us and other organizations, they managed to destroy psytrance scene almost completely, now is a bit better but problems are still there.

PSYSOCIETY:

Most of your events are free, what do you do for a living?

Karolina:

Apart from organizing parties, I have a regular job from 6 am – 2 pm, 5 days per week

PSYSOCIETY:

How important is the job of an organizer in our scene?

Karolina:

Organizer job is quite important especially you make connections, by inviting international artists, it keeps the scene alive around the globe and from time to time we can all work together.

PSYSOCIETY:

Why Do you make your parties “free”? Are there any benefits for you as an organizer?

Karolina:

there are usually no benefits and our crew agreed work for free only for people enjoyment but if there by some miracle are benefits all money we have we investing in equipment ( sound system, decks, decor, generator, lights )
