Interview with Crone Horrordelic Records

PsySociety.net is striving to become the first magazine covering all aspects of psychedelic music. In this article, we are interviewing Crone Horrordelic Records.

PSYSOCIETY:

You play a lot in Brazil lately I see. What are the main differences between the Brazilian Scene and the European underground Psytrance scene in your opinion?

Crone:

Yes, it’s true I spend a lot of time in Brasil last years. I believe that the differences between the Brazilian scene and European are big… first of all in Brasil they are lucky because of the weather and how big is Brasil… because the weather is good they have the possibility to make open-air festivals every weekend all the year.. all the year there are more or less 50 or more festivals every week and Brasil is so big country with millions of people of psytrance that they go to festivals every week so most of them they live like this. They spend all of their time to festivals from fest to fest. Also, there are festivals every week from 500 to 50000 people (smalls and huge) so we (artists) can work there and make better money than Europe… and people there are really awesome and smiley and happy (also in Europe just in Brasil there are much more)..so Brasil for me is the best place at this moment that we can work and like in the same time 🙂 ps: I love you Brasil

PSYSOCIETY:

What are the main Inspirations for your work?

Crone:

I don’t know.. For sure I have inspired by some artists but I don’t have any specific place or someone that inspire me every day. I am just a creative person and I love to create music.. when I am saying “now is music time” the ideas just come and I am trying to create what I have in my head.

PSYSOCIETY:

What`s more important in a track: Idea or Quality?

Crone:

Both. If you don’t have ideas and creative mood don’t make music. So ideas are the first. Quality is also important to me. I am listening to a lot of guys that send me their music and some of them they have really killer ideas and stories of their tracks but not good quality and the track don’t sound good especially on big Soundsystem… So after we have the ideas we must learn how to use our ideas and how mixing our track good…for me both are important.

PSYSOCIETY:

Do you prefer to play on Festivals specializing in one sub-style of psytrance or do you prefer if different styles are represented on an event?

Crone:

From my experience until now I have more fun at the festivals that specialize in my sub-trance style…but on the festivals with every kind of psychedelic, because usually, they are bigger, I make better money so both are good… so yes for enjoying I prefer darkpsy/psycore festivals. But for different reasons, I like to play to both 🙂

PSYSOCIETY:

Since when do you write Music?

Crone:

Since 2012. My first touch was at 2012 starting to create some tracks for myself.. I put my tracks for listening to some friends and some people and they told me “man your ideas is really good post in online and blablabla” so I post my music and people and some organisers liked.. after this I start studying things alone about synthesis about mixing mastering till now I a reading everyday.. and at 2014 I played the first time for a professional party

PSYSOCIETY:

What is your main inspiration for your artistic work?

Crone:

Kasatka Calyptratus Yaminahua Kindzadza is the artists that I inspired for sure hehehehehe

PSYSOCIETY:

Do you live from making music or do you have a day job?

Crone:

Well i am trying to live only from my music this is my dream and every year is going better because I have more gigs worldwide and I am really grateful for this 🙂  when I am not traveling and I have no gigs sometimes I help my mom with her business (she has a small hotel in a village in Greece) and we share some money but I am doing this when I have time and no traveling…but I don’t make any other official job… I try to live from music only 🙂

PSYSOCIETY:

What was your first contact with the Psychedelic Culture?

Crone:

I don’t remember actually I listened to psychedelic music since I was kid.. my first party was Darkelf at 2010 or 2011 but I was listening to Psy music a lot of time before… but I think psy culture is not only music right? I live in a village and my friends from there also were in psy culture making dreadlocks or handmade jewels or macrame or many things and they sell in festivals … we are in this culture since we were kids

PSYSOCIETY:

Can you explain the term “Psycore” for us?

Crone:

hahah what is psycore hehe nice question. I will answer you just my personal opinion..maybe for other people is not like this…but for me first of all, psycore is “substyle or better a fast bpm style” of darkpsy… Darkpsy and psycore for me is something different and more than just music.. is a culture of life.. when i listen darkpsy or psycore or experimental music is like a “ritual” happend not only on the stage but inside me also. So the word psycore is just fast darkpsy for me. and I love darkpsy fast or slow… normally I play from 150 to 250 bpms on my lives hehe

PSYSOCIETY:

Are any major Releases upcoming that you want to talk about?

Crone:

Uhmm in next month I will release an album Called “Crone & Friends”. is an album with collab tracks with some friends from worldwide. the range of bpms is from 158 to 230.. the album has collabs that participate Oroboro, Arkhos, MindElve, Atria, Paranoia Sector,Umija, Alien Chaos, Necroilliusion ,Abyssal void and Hyperekplexia.. Its darkpsy psycore and experimental music totally and I hope people blast with this hehe the release is going to be at horrordelic records.. it’s my label and I love it because maybe is not the super famous label but the guys and Kriz help me a lot when I start producing and I appreciate a lot.
